MingleIn is a trading name of MingleIn Pty Ltd (ABN 51 645 678 637) (“MingleIn”), which provides Users with the website at https://minglein.com.au (“Website”) and any of MingleIn’s services made available on the Website (together, the “Services”).
By registering on the Website you acknowledge and agree that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the use of your personal information as set out in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not continue to use the Website.
In this Privacy Policy, all terms defined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“Privacy Act”) have the same meaning when used in this Privacy Policy.
1What personal information we collect
The personal information we collect about you depends on how you use the Services. It can include:
- Contact details, email address and Date of Birth (self-declared at signup, 16+). We do not collect your legal name at signup. If you become a Host, Stripe Connect collects your Legal Name and address directly for tax and identity verification; that information stays with Stripe and is never displayed on MingleIn.
- Account information, Username, password hash, profile preferences (your Curiosity selections), profile photo if uploaded.
- Workshop activity, Workshops you’ve purchased or sold, Boasts you’ve shared, Watch Parties you’ve organised or attended.
- Recording content, the audio and video content of any Workshop you upload as a Host. Call recordings of any conversations with our team where you’ve consented.
- Payment information, credit card and bank account details, processed and stored by our third-party payment providers (Stripe and PayPal). MingleIn does not store payment details directly.
- Usage data, information related to your use of the Services, including IP address, location data, past and present online activity on the Website, and interactions with our communications.
- Images, including any photos you upload as Boasts or as part of your profile.
How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you in various ways: when you register on the Website, when you purchase or sell a Workshop, when you communicate with us through the Website, mobile applications, social media or other digital platforms, and through standard web technologies including cookies.
Occasionally other people or entities might give MingleIn personal information about you, for example, if a friend invites you to a Watch Party, your email address is shared with us by the inviting User. We may also collect information from publicly available sources (public registers, social media) and from contractors who provide services on our behalf.
Sensitive information
MingleIn only collects sensitive information about you with your consent (unless we are otherwise required or authorised by or under law to do so). Sensitive information includes health information and information about a person’s race, ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs and criminal history.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies including web beacons. We use:
- Service cookies, to make the Website work efficiently, remember your registration and login details, and adapt to your device.
- Referral cookies, to attribute a Workshop purchase to the Member who shared the link that brought you to MingleIn (so that the sharer can earn their Buyer Referral Incentive). The Referral cookie is a session cookie only: it lasts for the current browser session and is dropped automatically when you close your browser. We do not persist Referral attribution across sessions. If you sign up while a Referral cookie is set, the Member who referred you is recorded on your account as your Sign-up Referrer; this is a one-time record at signup and is unrelated to ongoing cookie tracking.
- Analytics cookies, to understand browsing patterns and improve the Website.
- Third-party remarketing cookies, to advertise MingleIn services across the internet based on past visits to the Website.
You may disable cookies in your browser. If you do, some features of the Website may not work properly. You can opt out of Google Ads remarketing at adssettings.google.com, or any third-party vendor’s cookies via optout.networkadvertising.org.
Google reCAPTCHA
We use Google reCAPTCHA to protect the Website from spam and abuse. This collects information about Users to determine they’re humans, not bots. This collection is subject to Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
2How we use your personal information
We use and disclose your personal information for the following purposes:
To provide the Services
To administer your account, deliver Workshops you’ve purchased, process Watch Party invites and payments, calculate Host earnings and Watch Party Organiser commissions, handle support enquiries and complaints, and verify your identity where needed.
To communicate with you
To respond to your enquiries, send you transactional notifications (purchase confirmations, party invites, party reminders), and, only if you’ve opted in, send you product updates, recommendations, and offers about MingleIn products and services. Where MingleIn sends you an offer relating to the products of Hosts, we keep control over your information. We do not give, rent or sell your personal information to third parties for them to directly market to you.
You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by managing your preferences at minglein.com.au/account.
For research and product development
To improve the Services, our marketing, and your MingleIn experience. This may involve data analytics on the personal information you provide and your interactions with the Website.
To comply with our legal obligations
To meet regulatory requirements and respond to lawful requests from authorities. We may also disclose credit information to a credit reporting body to report defaults (in accordance with the Privacy Act).
If we are unable to collect personal information from or about you, we may not be able to provide our Services to you.
3Who we share your personal information with
In conducting our business we may share your personal information with:
- MingleIn employees and contractors, strictly on a need-to-know basis to provide the Services.
- Service providers, including our payment platforms (Stripe, PayPal), our cloud hosting providers, our email service providers, and our customer support tools. Each is bound to use your information only for the purposes for which we engage them.
- Other Users, your Username, profile photo, Boasts and (if you become a Host) your Workshop content are visible to other Users on the Website. Your email address and your legal name (collected only by Stripe at Host onboarding) are never shown publicly.
- Authorities, where we are required or authorised by law to do so.
Disclosure overseas
MingleIn may disclose your personal information to third parties overseas who provide services to us. The countries in which they are located include India, the United States of America, and other countries where third-party payment service platforms and cloud-based hosting servers are based (which may change from time to time). Where we do this, we take reasonable steps to protect the privacy of your information.
Aggregated information
MingleIn may share aggregated or summary information that does not identify you with our business partners or other third parties, for example, to share total platform statistics or anonymised usage trends.
Location-based services
To provide location-based services through our applications, MingleIn and its partners may collect, monitor, store, use and share location data, including the real-time geographic location of your devices.
4Watch Party data
Invite lists are private
When you organise a Watch Party, you provide MingleIn with the email addresses of the friends you’d like to invite. We use those email addresses solely to send the invitation, the seat-purchase reminder, and the party reminder emails. We do not use Watch Party invite lists for any other marketing purpose, and we never share invite lists with any third party.
If you decline an invite
If you’ve been invited to a Watch Party and choose to decline (or simply not respond), MingleIn keeps your email address only as long as necessary to manage that party (cancellation refunds, party reminders to other attendees) and then deletes it. We don’t add you to a marketing list.
Public listing
Watch Parties are not publicly listed anywhere on MingleIn. The fact that a Watch Party is occurring, the identity of the Organiser, the identity of attendees, and the Workshop being viewed are visible only to the people invited.
Party room data
Conversations or chat content that occurs during a Watch Party (if applicable) is held only for the duration of the party and any short post-party period for moderation purposes. Audio or video of the party itself is not recorded or retained by MingleIn.
5Security of personal information
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. This includes industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted data-at-rest where applicable, role-based access controls for our team, and regular security training.
Payment details are not stored by MingleIn. Stripe and PayPal handle the storage and processing of payment information in accordance with their published security standards (PCI-DSS compliant). 6Information quality and your rights of access and correction
Quality and correction
We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete, up to date and relevant. You can help us by letting us know about any changes to your personal information, such as your email address and phone number.
If you believe any information we hold about you is inaccurate, please contact us. We will take reasonable steps to correct your information. If we don’t, we’ll give you a written explanation as to why.
Access
Please contact us if you would like to access the personal information we hold about you. For security purposes, when you contact us we will need to verify your identity. We will generally provide access to your personal information (subject to some exceptions permitted by law). We can usually deal with your request within 14 to 30 days. In some cases we may charge an access fee to cover the cost of retrieving and supplying the information; we will inform you of any charges before proceeding.
7How to make a privacy complaint
Please contact us if you have any concerns or complaints about how MingleIn has handled your personal information. We will review your complaint and respond to you in writing. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

8How to make a complaint about credit reporting
Please contact us in writing if you have any concerns or complaints about our compliance with our obligations under the credit reporting provisions of the Privacy Act or under the Credit Reporting Privacy Code.
We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days and let you know who is responsible for handling your complaint and how we will deal with it. MingleIn will endeavour to resolve your complaint within 30 days (or any longer period you agree to in writing).
If you are not satisfied with our decision, you may escalate the complaint to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) or contact the OAIC directly.
