Host story · Established Creator

Arty Alice, the illustrator who stopped guessing.

A YouTube creator with 80,000 subscribers and a six-figure ad-revenue mood-ring. Three months on MingleIn turned one afternoon of recording into a recurring monthly income she can actually plan around.

Before MingleIn

Six years on YouTube, no certainty.

Alice built her audience the slow way. Daily-ish uploads, watercolour timelapses, the occasional commission peek. By 2024 she had 80,000 subscribers and a community of people who routinely commented “how do you do that”. She’d tried selling brushes, prints, a Patreon. Each one worked a little, none of it added up to a living.

The breaking point was the algorithm shift in late 2025. Her ad revenue halved over six weeks. Nothing she’d done had changed; the rules had.

I had this huge audience that genuinely loved what I made. And every month I had to guess how much I’d earn. That’s not a business, that’s gambling against a system you can’t see.

How she found us

Direct outreach from the founder.

MingleIn was three weeks from soft launch. The founder was on Instagram looking for the kind of Hosts the platform would be built around: real Australian Creators who’d already done the audience-building work and were ready for a vessel that paid them properly.

He DM’d Alice in late February. The pitch was simple. 50% of every Workshop. Record once, earn for as long as Members find it. Direct-messaging access to the founder for the first 90 days for anything not covered by the onboarding. No subscription. No algorithm.

Alice signed up on 2026-02-22 and joined the first cohort of Hosts the same week.

First Workshop

One afternoon. Three modules. Live on Day Five.

The free Host onboarding Workshop arrived in her Library on Day 0. It walked her through the Boast frame: not the Workshop topic, the Boast. The thing a Buyer would hold up at the end and want to share. She watched it across Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

She landed on “your pet, in watercolour, in your style”. A small finishable outcome, beginner-shaped, with room for each Member’s variation. Alice recorded it the following Saturday on her phone, in three modules of about 20 minutes each, in the same studio she shoots her YouTube content in.

The Workshop went live on 2026-02-27. By the end of the first weekend she had 14 sales.

I’d been overcomplicating it for years. The Workshop wasn’t a magnum opus. It was the thing my audience already kept asking me about. The Boast was the unlock; once I knew what the Buyer would make, the modules wrote themselves.

What’s next for Alice

The Community is doing the marketing.

Alice’s Members are posting Boasts. Their Boasts are showing up on Instagram and Pinterest. Each Boast is point of warm referral to her Workshop. She hasn’t run a single paid ad. She hasn’t gamed the algorithm. The Community Growth Fund recognises the Members who introduce new Buyers, so the people growing her Workshop’s reach get something back from it.

I used to chase metrics. Now I just keep recording. The platform takes care of the rest.
